Etang Rendezvous was originally dug in 1941 as a shooting venue and has become a beautiful lake surrounded by large mature trees and vegetation. It is set in open countryside, having no immediate neighbours and there isn’t a main road to be seen or heard – a perfect location for those who like their peace and quiet. In 2002 the lake became a fishery being stocked with carp and catfish although in recent years we have removed the catfish all but one albino. The current carp stock stands at approximately 300 mature fish, with the largest capture thus far in 2023 being an 80lb 4oz common. The lake holds a further 3 known 70s and a good head of 30,40,50 and 60lb fish.

The venue has definitely moved on over the past few years with fish weights increasing beyond our expectations. The lake now holds fish that any angler I know would love to see in their net, with the opportunity to beat many a p.b. As with any venue bigger rewards have resulted in smaller numbers of fish banked, with the venue becoming more challenging for the less experienced angler. That said, an average week is between 35-45 fish per group, with personal bests consistently beaten.
